Wendy brings a unique background and skill-set to ASaP clients. Since 1982 she has provided exceptional concept, illustration and design services for the toy, giftware, packaging, and consumer product industries.
Her early years growing up in Michigan on her grandfather's orchard inspired her life-long appreciation for the roots of rural America, and the satisfaction of creating with your hands. You can feel it in the beautifully illustrated faces and well thought out designs that she delivers to her clients. This little girl didn't just play with dolls, she made furniture for them.
Her experience of growing up in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural family gave her diverse problem solving skills. While finishing her degree in linguistics at UCSD, she was a work-study student as a scientific illustrator at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. This, and her involvement with the San Diego Comic Book Convention (now ComicCon International) led to her need to go to art school. She graduated Art Center College of Design with degrees in advertising and illustration.
Her work for a company, developing toys and childrens' books for Kenner Toys, ultimately led to her working for Mattel—designing and developing large and small dolls and preschool toys. She became self-employed in 1991. Notable clients include Mattel, Disney Consumer Products, Hasbro Toy Group, Price Stern Sloan/Putnam and several gourmet food companies.
