Dave McCullough
Bio:
David McCullough is a self-taught, critically-acclaimed commercial and fine art photographer. His eye-catching use of color, dramatic black and white imagery and powerful composition have been sought by such clients as Earthlink, Pioneer Music, Samsung, The Walt Disney Company, Valvoline Motor Oil, Merrill Lynch, Buena Vista Entertainment, Radisson Hotels & Resorts, and Ronco Corporation, just to name a few.
David started his professional career as a printer before he began a successful advertising career. During this career, he helped produce marketing campaigns for companies such as The Bridgestone Corporation, Sony Entertainment and The Los Angeles Kings.
David became interested in photography in 1990 when he borrowed a camera to take photos of his weekend horseback camping journeys in the Simi Valley Mountains. Although disappointed with his initial efforts, he continued to practice and study and over the course of several years, mastered the craft.
His early efforts in photography were documentary, but when the featured artist at an art gallery opening explained in detail his creative process from concept through development and into a final image, David’s work changed. When David grasped that he could go beyond just taking a photo to creating an image that was uniquely his own, he left advertising to become a professional photographer.
David's personal work explores the human experience in shape and form, from the freedom of flight and dance to the deconstruction of emotion. His most recent work incorporates shape and form, often within the context of patterns, to explore the interactions between individuals, the structure that defines and shapes our lives and those moments when we are most alive.
Acknowledged as an authority in photography, David writes articles on photography, creativity and related subjects. He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, Advertising Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of America.
