Bruce Wiseman provides research, surveys, and positioning & branding strategies to corporate clients, advertising agencies and governments throughout the United States and abroad.
Bruce got his start in market research as a Vice President with Security National Bank in the San Francisco Bay Area. He subsequently had the opportunity to conduct consumer research for a major U.S. publishing house and fell in love with the subject. He founded On Target Research after moving to Los Angeles in the mid eighties and hasn’t looked back.
Working with industry leading clients such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Young and Rubicam, Marriott, Hilton, and Hitachi—using proprietary survey techniques—Bruce developed a specialty in creating unique positions for his clients and their products and services.
In 1992, shortly after the fall of Communism, Bruce traveled to Russia and delivered seminars to hundreds of budding entrepreneurs in Moscow. He returned again in early 1993 and spoke to senior executives of the leading banks in Russia at the time on the use of surveys in advertising and marketing campaigns.
Members of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (Russian Federal police) attended one of the seminars and invited Bruce to speak to senior members of the Ministry’s staff about how to improve their relations with the Russian people after years of “strained relations.”
Bruce helped the Ministry change their attitude and communication level with the public and then delivered seminars to senior members of the Ministry on how to survey their citizens regarding what they needed and wanted from the police.
As a result of his work, Bruce’s bust resides in the Hall of Heroes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Bruce has also been an advisor and consultant to countless corporate executives and other government leaders here in the United States on the subject of market research, branding and positioning.
He writes a market research newsletter, Response, hailed as “brilliant” by Al Ries, the Godfather of positioning, and has written on the subject of market research and positioning for such publications as Government Technology and Hotel and Motel Management.
He is also a published fiction author under the pen name, John Truman Wolfe. Bruce holds a Masters Degree with Honors from the California State University at San Jose and is the former Chairman of the Department of History at John F. Kennedy University.
Bruce and his team provide customer loyalty surveys, customer satisfaction surveys, product positioning surveys and other marketing research and recommendations for your marketing, advertising and public relations campaigns. Additionally, as requested, his team will coordinate with corporate marketing departments or external agencies to help position the surveyed messages for the highest possible response.
Bruce does not utilize focus groups. Instead, he conducts live one-on-one interviews (in person or on the phone) with the client's customers, prospects or both. He prides himself on surveying hard-to-reach publics (senior corporate executives, doctors, lawyers, etc.) but has conducted many thousands of customer surveys as well.
Bruce and his assistants, utilize the positioning strategies of Jack Trout and Al Ries and the survey technology of L. Ron Hubbard.
We are very proud to have Bruce Wiseman as part of the ASaP Marketing team.
